AI Activity Panel on Record Pages
The AI Activity Panel is a drop-in Lightning component that surfaces every AI conversation linked to a record — right on that record’s detail page. Users can see at a glance what AI activity has occurred (whether it was an interactive chat or a background, automated action) and expand any row to read the full transcript without leaving the record.
What the Panel Shows
For each AI conversation linked to the current record, the panel displays a compact summary row with:
- Agent name and avatar — which agent ran the conversation
- Channel badge — Internal, Community, External, or API (colour-coded so the source is obvious at a glance)
- Started date and time — localised to the viewing user’s timezone
- Message count — how many turns the conversation contained
- Status pills — Automated (when triggered by a Flow, schedule, or background process) and Ended (when the session has been formally closed)
- Preview — the first user message (or the first system instruction in the case of automated runs), truncated to fit on one line
Click any row and it expands inline to reveal the full transcript — user messages and assistant replies in chronological order, with timestamps and any tools the assistant used. Assistant messages render the same way they do in live chat: cards, tables, links, code blocks, and rich formatting all display correctly. Click the row again to collapse it.
Adding the Panel to a Record Page
The panel is a standard Lightning App Builder component. There is no code to write and no configuration to fill in — it picks up the record automatically from the page it’s placed on.
- From the record page where you want the panel to appear, click the Setup gear › Edit Page.
- In the Lightning App Builder, scroll the left-hand Components palette to the Custom — Managed section.
- Drag REDA AI Conversation History into the page region you want it in (a right sidebar works well; full-width main columns also display fine).
- Save the page. If this is the first time you’re editing it, you’ll be prompted to Activate — choose the activation scope (org default, app, or specific profiles) that fits your rollout.
Who Can See What
Visibility of conversations in the panel follows your standard Salesforce sharing model on conversation records. A user sees a conversation in the panel only if they have read access to the underlying conversation record, the same way they would see related Cases or Tasks on a record.
The Common Scenario — Background Agent Activity
Automated AI agents (for example, an API agent triggered by a Flow) typically run as a dedicated integration user. By default, conversations created by that integration user are owned by that user and may not be visible to the record’s owner or sales team.
To make automated AI activity visible to the people who own the affected records, set up sharing rules on the REDA AI Conversation object — for example, share all conversations created by your integration user with the role hierarchy, or with a specific public group. Once the sharing rule is in place, the panel will surface those conversations automatically. No code changes are needed.
Granting Field Access
Users also need read access to the relevant fields on the conversation and message objects. The standard REDA AI User permission set includes everything needed for the panel to render correctly. Custom permission sets should grant read on REDA AI Conversation and REDA AI Message objects, plus their key fields, before placing the panel on a profile’s page layout.
Reading a Transcript
Each message in the expanded transcript shows:
- Role — whether the message came from the user or the assistant
- Timestamp — in the viewing user’s locale
- Tools used — for assistant turns, a small badge listing any tools the agent invoked (for example,
portal_data_query,create_record). Hover for the full list.
For longer transcripts or detailed troubleshooting, the Open conversation link at the bottom of each expanded transcript navigates to the conversation record itself, where the full message history is visible alongside metadata fields like total credits used, related credit period, and archival status.
Pagination
The panel loads the 20 most recent conversations on the record. If more exist, a Load more button appears at the bottom — clicking it pulls in the next 20. There is no upper limit; the panel continues paginating until all conversations are loaded.
Empty State
When no AI conversations are linked to the current record, the panel shows a friendly empty state. This is intentional — it confirms the panel is wired up and ready for activity, even before any has happened. Records that never have AI activity will simply continue to show the empty state.
Limitations
- The panel is read-only. To start a new conversation, use the live chat component or invoke an agent through Flow.
- Only conversations explicitly linked to a record (via the agent’s context) appear in the panel. Conversations that ran without a record context will not show up here, even if they happened to discuss the record.
- Visibility is governed entirely by Salesforce sharing rules on the conversation object — the panel does not bypass them.
- The panel currently lives on internal Lightning record pages. Surfacing the same view on Experience Cloud (community) record pages is on the roadmap.
