Remote Site Settings for messaging and files
REDA Connect 1.94000 includes four Active Remote Site Settings for provider calls and Meta file downloads. Keep them Active. Check the entries in the customer org after installation or upgrade, especially when a push upgrade delivers a newly added setting inactive.
Why text and files need different checks
The public Site receives the message callback. An inbound attachment link is then downloaded separately and stored as a Salesforce File. A Remote Site Setting permits Salesforce to call the relevant external host; it does not create the public Site or change the incoming callback. Text arriving does not prove that a file download succeeded.
Packaged entries in Winter 2026
| Setting | URL | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| REDA_Connect_Twilio | https://api.twilio.com | Twilio SMS API calls |
| REDA_Connect_WhatsApp | https://graph.facebook.com | Meta Graph API calls for the account's Meta channels; the existing setting name is retained |
| REDA_Meta_File_Server | https://lookaside.fbsbx.com | Meta file downloads, including incoming WhatsApp media |
| REDA_Meta_Messenger_CDN | https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net | Messenger attachments served by this Meta host |
Earlier instructions asked customers to add the Meta file host manually. In this release it is packaged. If your org already has an active equivalent entry for that URL, do not create another merely to match the suggested name.
Check and activate the needed entries
- As the Salesforce administrator, open Setup.
- Search Remote Site Settings in Quick Find and open it under Security.
- Find the entries above and confirm the URL and Active checkbox.
- For a newly delivered push-upgrade entry that is inactive, open it, click Edit, select Active and save. Leave the existing active entries enabled.
- If an expected entry is absent, confirm the installed package version before adding a duplicate. Compare any existing equivalent host entry and inspect the actual callout error.
These checks apply separately in each org. A working sandbox does not establish the state of production. Do not deactivate packaged settings as part of routine cleanup.
Verify with a real attachment
After channel setup, have the agreed test participant send a small supported image. Confirm both the incoming message and the file opening from Salesforce. For Messenger/Instagram, if the attachment download failed, inspect its Connect Log receipt, correct the reported cause and use Replay Meta Webhook to retry unfinished attachment work.
A missing file is not automatically a Remote Site Setting problem. Inspect the actual error and source link; a rejected format or unavailable source URL needs its own correction. Follow attachment troubleshooting and the channel test checklist.
Continue setup
